We Lead Impact aims to promote mentorship as a key component of addressing inequality in societies, to close opportunity gaps, to raise awareness and promote access to information for young people in international relations and diplomacy by reducing barriers to pursuing the field.
Our Story
As a mentorship advocate and with a passion for international relations, diplomacy and global policy, Thandi Tshabalala, the Founder, created We Lead Impact as a global platform with the aim of closing the opportunity gaps in the field by sharing some insights from her own journey as an international affairs practitioner.
Driven by the challenges she faced, and those still faced by young people entering this field currently, she founded We Lead Impact to support other young people, especially young women pursuing similar paths as an information sharing and platform to build a community and broader network of youth with an interest in international affairs. WELI is also a platform created from the love and passion for transforming international affairs and global policy in the hopes to inspire others to remain committed to their dreams. The We in We Lead Impact also places emphasis that this Mission is a collective effort.
To be more effective in implementing this vision, We Lead Impact is anchored in the importance of supporting, advocating and championing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa's Agenda2063. For WELI, understanding these regional and global development goals and aspirations, is also key to understanding current international relations and diplomacy. With this vision, WELI was born.
